JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Construction and erection of residential and commercial buildings according to the plans
  • Maintain a safe working environment by following all safety laws and HBI safety rules.
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site free from debris and hazards
  • Possess a working knowledge of building codes
  • Uphold company standards for high quality workmanship, while using materials efficiently to prevent waste and maintain structural integrity
  • Strong working knowledge of materials with the ability to do material takeoffs, cut, hone, and shape wood, vinyl, steel and other materials
  • Finish carpentry skills including trimming and woodwork
  • Working knowledge of stair design and construction
  • Ability to layout walls, floors, joists and trusses; figure and cut roof rafters
  • Sheeting, Roofing insulating of walls and roof systems
  • Ability to install drywall, windows, and doors
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude when faced with change and embrace learning for continuous improvement
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a professional demeanor
  • Strong communication skills: must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, management, subcontractors, and customers.
  • Must possess strong problem solving skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Constantly works in outdoor weather conditions including heat, cold, snow, and rain
  • Ability to ascend/descend ladders
  • Constantly move, walk, stand, and crouch for 8-9 hours a day
  • Frequently operates hand and power tools

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Required minimum education of High School Diploma
  • Ability to read and decipher blue prints, shop drawings, and specifications
  • Requires intermediate math and geometry skills
  • Certified to operate aerial lifts and telehandlers
  • Certified in crane rigging

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for all on-site job activities
  • Accomplishes work by orienting, scheduling, and supervising sub-contractors
  • Plans construction projects by studying blueprints and construction schedules to coordinate supply deliveries and sub-contractors to job site
  • Responsible for managing, tracking, and approving on-site labor, material, and general conditions costs per project budget
  • Review submittals as required
  • Maintain as-built drawings
  • Ensure job site achieves the highest standards of quality, safety, cleanliness, and service
  • Enforces a safe, secure and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures
  • Responsible for monitoring schedules, job site documentation, safety, and quality control
  • Responsible for the strategic planning and development for all onsite operations
  • Maintain and communicate achievable short term schedules.
  • Complete daily logs using ProCore.
  • Responsible for the promotion of a safe, productive, and professional job site through adhering to all policies and procedures in the HBI company handbook, safety handbook, and all applicable laws and building codes
  • Ability to travel to other destinations, if desired.

  • Strong communication skills in written and verbal form are required, lead job progress meetings and complete daily logs.
  • Ability to perform advanced carpentry skills which includes the ability to cut and build stair systems, layout, cut and assemble roof structures including rafters, jack rafters, hip roofs.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude when faced with change and embrace learning for continuous improvement.
  • The ability to recognize skill levels/weaknesses and to delegate responsibility according to that assessment 
  • The ability to prioritize, set goals as they relate to the project and accomplish them in a reasonable manner

CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE

  • Prefer at least 2 years of experience as a construction superintendent
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications
  • Requires intermediate math and geometry skills
  • Certified in operating aerial lifts, and telehandlers
  • Intermediate computer skills required
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred
  • Valid Driver’s license with insurable driving record
  • Procore experience preferred
